1) This is not a translated article by John Daniel Davidson.
This is very incomplete and only selectively cheery picking what the translator wanted to listen to and conveyed. It's more akin to yellow journalism disguised more like an editorial

The orange duck core support has always been the uneducated, poor, evangelical white. It's easy to empathize, as you should, with their economic plight, but as the author (John Daniel Davidson) pointed out in this article, these uneducated poor white was willing to take a chance on trump due to his promises of change!
-->
It's not about elitist or who is in charge! It's about economic desperation in these people daily life! As their economic reality eats away at their remaining savings and hope, the orange duck came in and gave them a promise.
But at what price will providing this dying class, who doesn't have or is unwilling to relearn or retool, with the Titanic do to the realities of the majority of the populace? Lets look at the big picture ...
----->
US Manufacturing As % of GDP has been below 20% since 1990s and has been below 16% since 2000 (sources from World Bank)
----->
US Services Sector Value Added As % of GP has been greater than 70% since 1990 and has been above 77% since 2000 (sources from World Bank)
----->
In 1960, about 24% of the workforce was employed in manufacturing. Today that number is only 8%, which translate to approximately 12-13 million people (source from Bureau of Labor & Statistics)
3) The orange duck, and eventually the Republican Party, blaming trade and its globalization as a liberal free for all and as a source of all economical malade for these uneducated, poor, white's economic despair ...
-->
Free trade and its globalization is what every company wants in order to expand, reduce cost, increase revenue and increase profit margin. Without free trade, it would be stagnation and death for commerce. A bedrock of capitalistic principle. Without free trade, we are back to communism style principles!
--> Mexico, China, Japan, EU and etc ... negotiated and accepted the agreed terms in good faith. US companies enjoyed and reaped trillions in profits.
So it's easier now to blame and cast these foreign countries workers as evil incarnate when the realities is the US corporations and its never unquivering task of profit margin driven goal!
--> Manufacturing as the name implied has always been very labor intensive. Thus, it's not only natural to reduce that labor but a must. Thus, the reality of lost manufacturing jobs in the US is mainly due to automation ... a eureka moment for some I hope!
From farming, to textile, to steel production, to automotives, to hardware and etc ..., automation has been the ongoing root cause of job loss industries wise!
-->
Since the Reagan administration, the bedrock of Republican Party has been open and unencumbered trades with other nations! The majority of major corporations CEO and its executive members are Republican.
And what drives the Reublican Party central tenet, anything that would produced higher profit margin which correlates extremely well with unencumbered trades.
Versus, the Democratic Party has always been well known and accussed of too much spending especially for social programs, ie. Social Security, Medicaid, CHIPS and etc ...
----->
So now with the orange duck, fiscal responsibility is thrown out the door like a $1 hore and deficit spending is openly welcom by the Republican Party, after decades of complaining and preaching. Such hipocrosy ... funny, but not unexpected!
4) As to the 787 billion (800+ billion adjusted for inflation) stimulus that Obama signed into law in 2009.
--> Obama inherited a true mess with an ongoing world wide economic slowdown/meltdown. US U3 Unemployment rate was going beyond 8%. US GDP had slowed significantly. Major US companies financial solvencies were at stake. The economic collapse has been compared to the great 1929 collapse
-->
The main goal of the stimulus was to reduce and prevent the unemployment rate from reaching 8%
--> The main problems of the stimulus were
----->
that it was billed as an infrastructure program. It was not ... only 10% of funds actually involved any infrastuctures
----->
the biggest part of the stimulus (approx. $200 billion before adjustment for inflation) were in the form of tax cuts or credits to taxpayer
--> Short term wise, the stimulus failed since ...
-----> Unemployment rate went above 8-9 % during Obama 2nd 1/2 of his 1st term as president
-----> Added almost a trillion dollar (adjusted for inflation) to the current deficit
----->
Most importantly though ... it turned off both Democratic & Republican politicians from using such a massive aid package again. I wouldn't hold my breath though ...!
--> Long term wise, the stimulus worked since ...
-----> Unemployment rate is below 7% by the end of 2014 and is below 5% at the end of 2016
----->
Succeeded in creating jobs, boosting growth and saving the US from a much worse fate vs other countries such as Europe
The bottom line ... become educated and use your head!
